Dr. Nichols is a general dentist located in Littleton, CO. He practices comprehensive dental care for the entire family from age four and up. This combination means that his patients receive basic dental care, and can also obtain top-level care and cosmetic dentistry and beyond that in the same dental office.

What comprehensive dental care means is that when you first come into the office we begin with an all-inclusive examination of your dental health. For patients that are new to our Littleton, CO dental clinic, we start with x-rays which are necessary to determine what’s going on below the surface of the teeth and gums. Once we have that information, the exam proceeds to include:

  • Soft tissue exam: checking the entire oral cavity for any evidence of oral cancer or other abnormalities
  • Periodontal exam: checking the status of gum and supporting bone structure for any indicators of disease or deficiency
  • Restorative exam: checking each tooth for cracks, fractures, chips, excessive wear, or decay that may require restoration
  • A detailed occlusal and TMJ exam: examining the condition of your bite as you think of it in relation to your temporomandibular, or jaw, joint

Once these steps are complete, we assemble an organized, prioritized treatment plan with you. Depending on the status of your dental health when you first arrive, this can range from very basic maintenance to a somewhat complex plan. In a “patient-and-doctor” discussion we evaluate treatment options and costs associated with each option before we do anything. This enables us to avoid any treatment or billing “surprises.”

Dr. Nichols also specializes in preventive treatment. So, beyond basic maintenance, he works with the patient to make adjustments to prevent future damage to teeth and surrounding structures.

Since 1991, Dr. Nichols has practiced adhesive dentistry exclusively. All the restorations are tooth-colored, using composites for fillings, and porcelain for crowns. On cases involving bruxism (clenching or grinding of teeth), the use of crowns with gold or precious alloy on chewing surfaces prevent any chance of fracture of the crown.
